High waisted shorts and Colorful Shirts

9os  Paradise  meets street style
This outfit is inspired by fashion from the 90's and current trends.  I'm pretty sure you could find a similar shirt among your parents old clothes from back in the day, or even in the high-street shops. Aztec designs are very popular at the moment. I personally love this trend. Just a simple piece of clothing with a hint of tribal/ Aztec designs is enough to make an outfit more interesting. For instance imagine in the photograph above, that the outfit was matched with a plain shirt... seriously... how boring would that look?
Anyway enough about the shirt, lets talk about those gorgeous high waisted distressed shorts. They perfectly balance out the heavy patterns from the shirt. The contrast between the faded color of the shorts and the vibrant colors from the shirt, emphasizes the colors of each piece whilst bringing the the two together as a cohesive unit. High waisted trousers, skirts and shorts are very good if you want to create the illusion of having long legs or having a small waist. I think that high waisted bottoms are key if you are wearing a very baggy top, they help define the waist.
Now the shoes... oh, and socks! I really wanted to dislike this but, its kind of cool. Usually the idea of wearing sandals or any open toe shoes with socks is a BIG NO NO, but this outfit may have changed my opinion (to an extent of course). I suppose it depends on how the entire outfit comes together. The color of the socks are featured on the shirt as a taster, but is overshadowed by the brighter colors.

This ensemble can be easily recreated in the following way and the links to the website where you can find these clothes are featured under each piece:

Tribal designs are not for everyone, so if you want to keep it a bit more low-key. You can never go wrong with floral prints. This sheer floral long sleeve blouse is from House of Fraser and only costs £15.

These super cute distressed high waisted shorts are only £30 from Missselfridge. Remember the shorts should work well with the top and calm the busy patterns on the shirt. http://www.missselfridge.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=33055&storeId=12554&productId=3637109&langId=-1

When styling an outfit that contains a lot of color or patterns it is important not to over do it with the accessories. Keeping it simple really does go a long way when accessorizing. If you do decide to add some accessories, I would suggest that you keep it very minimal. For this outfit I decided that a small leather backpack would go amazing. What says urban street-style and 90's better than a backpack?
This backpack is from ASOS and is £25.50 Image 1 of ASOS Backpack Bag With Zips And Punchout Detail
It is super cute and I just adore the laser cutouts on the pockets.
